I'm Shanika Whitehurst and I'm excited to be running for Gaithersburg City Council.

Having grown up in Maryland, specifically in the neighboring Prince George's County, I have a deep-rooted understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that exist within our community. Coming from a lineage of public servants, I am proud to be the daughter of a U.S. Army veteran, which has instilled within me a strong sense of duty, honor, and dedication to serving others.
One of my key passions lies in the preservation and protection of our environment. I firmly believe that we have a responsibility to ensure the sustainability of our city for future generations. By implementing environmentally-friendly initiatives and advocating for green practices, I aim to create a thriving community where families, including my own, can continue to prosper and enjoy all that Gaithersburg has to offer.
As a candidate for Gaithersburg City Council, I am wholeheartedly committed to the well-being and success of every resident. By working collaboratively with citizens, community organizations, and fellow council members, I intend to foster an inclusive and vibrant city that remains a desirable place to live, work, and raise a family.
